My Beautycounter Story

A couple years ago, my cousin started educating others about why Beautycounter was revolutionizing the beauty industry. I learned from her that most, if not all, of the beauty and skin care products I had in my cabinet contained countless toxins that could be affecting my health.

At the time I needed new makeup, so I decided to try out Beautycounter’s Flawless in Five to give it a go. I fell in love with the products. I also began learning about Beautycounter as a company and what it was actively doing to protect other consumers.

Did you know that over the past two decades, the European Union has banned close to 1,400 chemicals in the product formulas of personal care products and restricted the levels of over 250 more in such products? The United States has only partially banned 30 to date.

Beautycounter decided that YOU AND ME DESERVE BETTER! And it has actually gotten out there and done something about it.

Beautycounter has prohibited the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through “The Never List™.” It has also implemented a rigorous testing in its production, ensuring that it does the best to eliminate harmful ingredients.

But do the products work?

Now this all sounds great, but girl, I need products that WORK. I value safe products, but I’m not going to spend money on crappy products I can’t count on.

That’s what I love about Beautycounter. Not only can I trust the ingredients, but the products PERFORM. I have struggled with breaking out and sensitive skin for years, always having to be super careful about trying new products. But my skin LOVED Beautycounter.

There are a few products my skin does NOT like, such as the super popular Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion that broke me out. But for the most part, I can use their products without fear of a random breakout or worse skin issues. And that is huge to me.

Some of my absolute favorite, go to, everyday products are the No. 3 Balancing Facial Mask, the Charcoal Cleansing Bar, Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation, and Hydrating Body Lotion. And since coming off the pill and dealing with hormonal acne, the Countercontrol line is an amazing, non-toxic acne control line that doesn’t obliterate all moisture on my skin that I also know isn’t affecting my fertility negatively.

You may be thinking, so basically you’re just part of another Multilevel Marketing scheme.

No, I don’t see it that way. And here’s why.

As I dove deeper into the world of toxins and the effects on our bodies, I realized that Beautycounter’s mission aligned with my own— to get safer products into the hands of everyone. I wanted to take part in getting the word out—not just about Beautycounter but about the importance of ridding your life of toxins.

I literally had no idea that these toxins were hiding in my products and could be affecting my hormones—including my fertility—before being introduced to Beautycounter. And I want to help other women like me, who may not know about these facts, to learn the same thing.

It wasn’t a choice I made lightly. As a full-time attorney, I have an incredibly demanding schedule that doesn’t leave room for much else. I wasn’t about to get involved in something that didn’t excite me—especially not some typical MLM that just results in lost money to most people who get involved. I didn’t really need extra money, but I also wasn’t going to just throw my money away on something either.

Beautycounter is ACTIVELY working to educate legislators and leaders about the importance of safer beauty. So when I joined, I became a mission leader of my own—getting a chance to educate others, make some money on the side, and take part in this clean beauty movement. That’s what made the difference for me.

But does it pay?

Yes!! Beautycounter’s compensation plan is one of the best in the direct sales market. I am not required to add people to my team to succeed (of course, it is helpful to my bottom line to do so but it’s not necessary), and even as the lowest ranked consultant right now, I make 25% off anything anyone buys through me. This is not common in the industry at all, and it really provides some teeth for those who want to spend the time to make this their main business.

Since I was passionate about Beautycounter’s mission, and I wanted to feel like I was doing something to change the landscape of toxins, I decided to join the team.

Through it, I became part of a tribe of wonderful women who are passionate about clean beauty and educating others about toxins in our lifestyles. It was a big turning point on my journey to cleaner, safer living. And for that, I can’t thank Beautycounter enough.
